Guy HASCOUET State Secretary for Solidarity Economy announced the creation of an online grant to facilitate donations of computer equipment administrations and business associations.
This project is under the action of the State Secretariat for the development of ICT in associations. The public and private sectors are invited to donate their old computers to different organizations.
Interested organizations must make a prior request on the Forum website of the Ministry of Employment and Solidarity (social.gouv.fr).
This will complete the circular of 1 December 2000 and officially authorizes the State to graciously give its computer equipment under certain conditions.
Last year, through "Internethon" of AFUU (French Association of Unix users) co-organizer of Net2001 2000 recycled PCs with modems and software were given to associations, social centers, and agencies reintegration, in France and in developing countries.
800 positions were awarded by the Ministry of Finance and Industry to the Paris Hospital Foundation and the Association of paralyzed France (APF). France Television, 106 and Toshiba are among the donors.
All is not simple, however: 90% of computers are thrown away, these being "too technologically outdated" notes the AFUU. Indeed, to be usable, these computers must be equipped with a minimum configuration (Pentium 133) to allow future users to browse the Internet.Edited on 13/12/2010 at 4:47 p.m.
